About

Juliet West worked as a newspaper and magazine journalist before taking an MA in Creative Writing at Chichester University in 2009. She graduated with distinction and was joint winner of the Kate Betts’ Memorial Prize for the best work in creative writing.

The opening chapters of Juliet’s debut novel Before the Fall were shortlisted for the Myriad Editions/West Dean novel writing competition in 2012 – the novel was published by Mantle at Pan Macmillan in 2014. The Faithful was published in 2017, also by Pan Macmillan.

Her poetry has been published in various journals and magazines including The French Literary Review, Magma and the Hippocrates Prize Anthology, and her short stories have appeared in the Sunday Times magazine, the Sunday Express and the anthology Murmurations (ed. Nicholas Royle).

A former journalist, Juliet is originally from Worthing, West Sussex. Despite Google’s best efforts to suggest otherwise, she is NOT the daughter of a famous actor: her dad is a retired British Airways steward called Roger.
